KA-BAR Next Generation knives are the chosen high performance knives for the 21 century with improved blade coating and have an oval shaped non-slip Kraton G Thermoplastic Elastomer handle.  These knives feature a high carbon, high chromium, stainless steel blade both in serrated and straight edge models.
They are specially heat treated to a HRC 55-57 hardness rating, deep frozen to -120 degrees F, Double draw tempered, buff polished edges with sintered powdered metal guard and butt caps, and treated with an epoxy powder coating.
